Have a sneaky peek at our Latest Tutorial
Hello, this tutorial has found its way into the 1 brush section, because I think it is a great project for those wanting to try a myriad of techniques onto some lovely simple shapes.
The colours for this tutorial are also lovely, as they allow for easy light lifting. There is a lovely little bit of texturing to get to grips with, and I show you how I add the soft washes to achieve a little bit of soft shadow.
I haven't slavishly followed the photograph. I have softened the strong shadows to maintain some reflected light underneath the heads. Sometimes it's nice to follow your artistic instinct rather than try to replicate the photograph.
I have also returned to the red poppy with the raindrops to show you how to add the textured stem. So if you have an unfinished poppy you can return to finish it.
Wishing you lots of precious painting time.
Peace and happiness always
Billy x
