Hello, lovely painters, this week we were painting in a slightly softer style, this very sweet and unusual flower, an Aquilegia in a bottle.
This little arrangement called to me because I enjoy the unusual colours of the shadows and the warm variation of colour on the flowers.
Although there's not much to the arrangement, there is quite a lot to do as the colours change quite rapidly across each element. This will give you a chance to explore your colour palette and mix up some very unusual colours.
This project is for the 2-brush level. You will be using a range of brushes from size 1 to 4. There is a good amount of detail in here, but I think the most important thing on this project is controlling the small washes of colour across the painting. I hope you enjoy this rather unusual flower and composition.
I'm also hoping it will introduce you to the idea of playing with a variety of lighting options when you are setting up small and simple still life compositions. One arrangement can be transformed using different types and angles of lighting.
Why not set up your own little still life and see what variations you can achieve?
As always, peace, love, sunshine and a little gentle rain.
