Black Bryony and Juvenile Rose Leaves - Preview

This week’s project covers painting Bryony and adding it to an existing project to create a somewhat unusual, but I think beautiful compositional flourish.

I show you how I use the fresh plant alongside my photographs to help me perfect my observation. This is close to how I work in my studio, combining all my references.

We also paint some small red leaves to balance the layout. So, lots of leaves and gorgeous natural colours.

The main things to learn this week are careful plotting of design and detail, and adjusting the plant very slightly to create your composition.

Hope you have fun with this!

As always, wishing you peace, sunshine, showers and some quiet painting time.
