Pink Tree Peony Part 1 - Preview

This is a beautiful Peony that I have in my garden, and I decided it was time to paint it. I loved it most in the evening light, where the light was shining through the petals and creating a network of beautiful shadows. We are painting this flower in this tutorial and adding a background later on.

It is almost like painting a white flower where you look at the colour of the shadows and try to determine which are the colours of the flower and which are the colours of light against dark. The patterns are rather beautiful and a delight to paint.

We look at soft and hard edges and adapt the colours across the flower, making little painterly decisions along the way. It's a beautiful flower, and one I hope you will enjoy painting with me.
