Hot pressed paper, 140lb, 200lb or 300lb in white (100% cotton is best as it has the most resilience).
Currently I am using the 200lb (425gms) Saunders Waterford hot pressed, and Fabriano Artistico (2017 make). I am trialling using both sides, and am having some success with both, it’s important you try a few papers to find the one that suits you best. I also sell and use A5 Bockingford hot pressed paper, as it's good every day paper. Use scraps to test your colours.

The tutorials are designed to teach you the technique and develop your skill and should make up a portfolio for your own records.
Copyright of the actual tutorial images remain with Billy Showell, therefore the tutorial paintings should not be exhibited, sold or reproduced as original work by the student; they can however be gifted to friends or family or sold in aid of charity and should be labelled in the title as taken from a Billy Showell tutorial. Similar subjects live or from photographs should be found and then you can use the techniques shown in the tutorial to create an original piece for exhibition sale or reproduction. Following theses guidelines should avoid any accusation of copy or breech of copyright by the gallery or art exhibition curator.
It is advised that painters always credit billyshowell.com when sharing any work derived from this site.

A note from Billy,
Dear fellow artists, I am posting this just to uncover how things happen here at the Billy Showell Store, busting the myths and explaining the process.
Did you know that I run my store all on my own? I do the packing, the posting, the stock check, the restock, the product development etc. My husband helps me with delivery to the post office, packing and writing the odd envelope. Bless him for that, as he is the only other member of the Billy Showell packing and post store team.
I drive the orders to the post office situated near to my old house as they are a small business and I didn't want to abandon them, I run the parcels to them before or after my gym sessions (no excuse for me not to go to the gym then).
Sometimes in my haste to deliver the parcels, I very occasionally pack the wrong item. This stinks as I have to pay to send on the missing or correct items, I only have myself to blame, but so you know I always try to get things right and to everyone as soon as I can.
If a parcel goes missing or is lost, I will send it again, annoyingly lost parcels rarely turn up on my doorstep, so it's a big loss for me but I will always make it right with the customer.
FYI- I use Royal mail track and sign, believe it or not this is the most economical of all the delivery systems available at present, all other systems charge 2-3 times more.Once the parcel leaves the UK, Royal Mail hands it over to that country's mailing system. Occasionally this can delay delivery but parcels do usually arrive safely albeit a week or so late. 'Track and sign' requires a signature at the customer's end so it's always best to put a delivery address somewhere where there will be someone to sign for it.
For the best savings it is a great idea to order with friends that way the post cost is shared and greatly reduced.
On the rare occasion things go wrong I always try to put it right and hope that if you have ordered from my store it has all been groovy and if it wasn't groovy then please don't judge me on that one moment. Holidays are always a little slower so if you are hinting to a loved one for a gift of my paints, scarves or brushes get them to order quickly as the timing is crucial.
Sadly, since Brexit and the new rules and export laws I have had to reduce the number of countries that I can post to. This includes all countries in the EU. I am devastated and apologise to all. I am in the process of looking into retailing my green synthetic brushes through other stores, and will let you know as soon as I do.
With my best wishes and hopes, Billy x
