Pansies - Preview

Hello lovely painting people, this week's painting tutorial is all about big washes and dropping in colour to make texture and pattern.

Pansies come in many variations of colour and pattern, so once you have tried these, the variations you can try are almost endless. Big washes require big mixes, so this is a great way to practice mixing up the right amount of colour. As with all enlarged studies, we must allow plenty of drying time in between the washes, and keep an eye on the wash edges to avoid tidemarks on your petals. Try also, to keep time during the washes to bring your brush to its tiptoe and manage the edges.
