Hello, lovely painting people, this week's tutorial is all about design and pop.
This beautiful Crocosmia flower stem has been calling to me to paint it for quite some time now. I love the cast shadows and have chosen to paint it in a blue/grey.
This is a very long landscape painting, but it suits the nature of the flower as it falls gracefully to the side. The colours are just delicious and too beautiful not to paint (I hope you agree).
The layout of this project is what attracted me to it. I love the way the shadow reflects the shapes of the flowers, but in an abstract pattern. I have kept the detail to a minimum on this one, as for me it's all about colour, shape and layout.
In this project, we cover wet-on-dry, wet-in-wet, and a few simple detail techniques. A little less tiptoe work this week and more concentration and nice clean colours and edges.
Wishing you some lovely painting time, peace, and happiness always.
