Heirloom China Reindeer - Preview

Wishing you a wonderful season's greetings, a Merry Christmas and while I'm here, a Happy New Year which is just around the corner!

Here is my sweet little heirloom reindeer, a little china ornament from my childhood, which I'm hoping you will discover is a wonderful thing to paint.

We use all of our lovely tidy ways that we have been perfecting throughout the year, together with mixing gentle browns, pinks and greens. The trick here is to prepare all the highlights first with masking fluid, and then to add the colours in soft washes, keeping crisp edges, and leaving layers to dry. I have added in some little Hawthorn berries for a nod to our botanical roots.

As this tutorial is the last to go out in 2025, I want to wish you all a very happy and safe winter festival, and a peaceful and joyful New Year.
