Hello, lovely botanical painters. This week's project is to follow on from our lovely little dog rose tutorial; this week we are painting the leaves and the small buds. I have exaggerated the light to enhance the study as it is so small, and tried to break down the steps to help you develop your leaf painting confidence.
I'm bringing out my fine liner to paint with this week, as there is lots of fine work to do. I’m also sharing some techniques that I use to make this kind of small work a little bit easier to understand and execute.
I do recommend practising these techniques across a practise page, as we all know practice makes perfect. The joy of little successes cannot be underestimated. I remember my first successful washes as though it was yesterday. So practise and play.
It would be nice to see some variations of dog rose in the forum; the techniques shown here are suitable for a great many varieties.
Peace now and let nature be.
Love billy x
