I'm very excited about this week's project release. The beautiful Iris Siberica is one of my favourite flowers, a real must for any garden.
I love all the beautiful shades of purple and purple pinks. This is a flower that demands a lot of resting time to allow all of the layers to dry which in turn allows you to build up the dancing colours.
I have placed this flower towards the lower part of a large portrait piece of paper, to allow room to add other larger purple iris above. But you can decide how you want to make your arrangement.
This flower head would be a wonderful small study to do, or you could put it towards the top of the page and add the stem and leaves if you have access to the actual plant.
The processes in this flower head study require you to use your fine brushes and steady mark-making, keep your brush tapered and on its tip-toe and keep the washes clean and bright.
I have placed it in the 'level 3' section of the school tutorials, but if you love the flower, just give it a go!
As ever, happy painting, peace and happiness.
