Black Poppy in the Rain - Preview

This week's big project is so involved you may want to paint it in stages or just paint a section.

The poppy petal texture, at 3 times natural size, is achieved with methodical dry brushing and patches of wet in wet. I use all the tools I have at my disposal to try and achieve a match. There are also many pretty water droplets reflecting shapes and colours, each is like a little world on its own.

This project is absorbing and enjoyable as you will gradually see the picture evolve through washes, textures and detail.

With this big flower to start us off, we will gradually be adding more poppy elements to this page.
