Hello, lovely painting people, this week's wonderful cheat is a tutorial on painting Dandelion seed heads.
The flower heads of the Dandelion transform as they mature into seed heads called clocks or puffs, which are made up of many one seeded fruit, called Achenes. Each of these Achenes or seeds is attached to a hair-like parachute, the Pappus, a short, fine stem or beak topped with smaller fine hairs. These delivery structures enable wind dispersal of the seeds over long distances.
Steeped in mythology of wish-making, time telling, and sending messages of love or faithfulness, these beautiful structures are a challenge to illustrate. So, I am sharing one way to capture their delicate nature. A wonderful little cheat and one that is definitely worth a try.
Wishing your wishes come true,
Peace as always
