This week's project celebrates its three beautiful Peony buds in a simple glass bottle. About two-thirds of the way through this study, I realised that my paper sizing was compromised. If this happens to you, it could be that you haven't stored the paper properly, so it's a good idea to always keep your paper stored away from bright light and any source of acidity, as this can damage the paper.
I continued with this painting because sometimes you can get away with it, and I liked the effect as it gave the painting a slightly softer feel.
Anyway, this painting is all about making soft, small decisions in very gentle washes; the end effect is very pretty and captures the light of the moment.
In this project, I will show you how I use the colours mixed for the main subject and soften it down for all the gentle smaller shadows. I'm hoping this will give you some inspiration for creating your own simple flower arrangements and using the sunlight to capture pretty shadows.
As always, peace, love, sunshine and some gentle rain.
