Meconopsis cambrica (Welsh Poppy) - Preview

(Part of the yellow composition)

Papaver cambricum, Meconopsis cambrica, common name Welsh poppy, is a perennial flowering plant in the poppy family Papaveraceae.

It pops up in my garden here and there with its bright yellow, cheerful little flowers. It's widely grown as a garden plant and is a native of damp, rocky areas in upland areas of Western Europe. This sweet plant flowers around May, June, and July.

It has single, cupped flowers with 4 petals topping slender, very upright stems with scalloped, mid-green leaves.

I think it makes a beautiful addition to my composition of yellow flowers through the seasons and is a super flower to practice.

I have added an extra reference photo of this plant to the download pack so you will have a better reference for the stem.

I have chosen this particular view to compliment the view of the daffodil on the opposite side of the composition, and to keep this tutorial a little simpler for our new seedling members. It is however a wonderful process to practice. I hope you like it.

Happy painting, sunshine and peace.
