Hello dear fellow painters, this week's tutorial is all about cross-sections.
Sometimes it's lovely to do a cross-section of a plant to show what goes on inside. So I've chosen to go back to a couple of past tutorials to add the cross-sections to complete a part of the final composition.
The tutorial is split into two halves. The first half is a cross-section of the Aubergine and the second half is a section of a Tomato.
Hopefully, you will find this useful and perhaps you could even add the cross-section of a plant to a past painting to help complete a composition of your own.
In this tutorial, you will find advice on subtle colour washes and little dropping-in techniques to achieve a very gentle depiction of the inner flesh of a fruit. It's about little washes and protecting certain areas to create a little bit of sparkle.
The wonderful thing is, that you can make a quick painting before you cook your supper!
Wishing you peace and happiness, Billy.
